I recently discovered this cozy little hideaway tucked in the quiet strip of Melrose between Doheny and Robertson in West Hollywood. And let’s just say I’m slightly ecstatic with this find.
Deep booths and chalkboards with the daily specials line the walls of this dimly lit restaurant, leaving a feel of complete comfort. The staff is laid-back in the best of ways, and at the same time they’re knowledgeable about every angle of the menu. The drinks are poured stiff, and the margaritas are the best I’ve found in the city. The beef hamburger is delectable (they also offer up a duck and pork burger). Maybe better than Father’s Office good.
If these aren’t enough reasons to the love this gem, there’s a happy hour that’s so inexpensive it almost makes you feel like you’re robbing the place. Five dollar cocktails and appetizers and three dollar beers? Count me in.
Melrose Bar and Grill is somewhat of a celeb hideaway. So don’t be surprised if you see the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow lurking somewhere in a corner booth.
Melrose Bar and Grill is located at 8826 Melrose Ave. West Hollywood, CA 90069.
