I just got word via Rolling Stone Magazine that MGMT is working on their new album. The eighteen-year-old girl inside of me is screaming and shedding an obsessive tear of excitement right now. Oracular Spectacular was my favorite album for six months straight until my boyfriend, best friend, neighbor and I-Pod banned me from it over the number of times I blasted ‘Kids’ at our backyard shindigs last summer.

The indie-all stars are back to the recording studio after pimping out Oracular Spectacular until those last notes ran completely dry. The boys of MGMT, Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden, have been locked away in a house somewhere in Malibu working on their new album titled “Congratulations” set to be released in early 2010. This time around Peter Kember, a.k.a. Sonic Boom and founding member of Spaceman 3, is helping them arrange the album.

Until then, look out for their collaborations with Kid Cudi, The Flaming Lips, and Jay-Z on each of their upcoming albums.
